….says he is for Atiku-Okowa ticket

Dr Law Mefor, the Chancellor, Igbo Bu Igbo and Director, Igbo Leadership Development Foundation, has criticized professor ABC Nwosu, former health minister, and a board of trustees member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over his sudden resignation from the party.

The professor of political science who resigned from the PDP had in a letter dated January 12, 2023, which was addressed to the chairman of the party, senator Iyiorcha Ayu, cited the inability of the party to abide by the principles of rotation for his resignation.

But Mefor in a terse commentary earlier published by News Band Newspaper, blamed professor ABC Nwosu for being among the people who frustrated the plot to zone the presidential ticket of the party to the southeast.

The PDP spokesman in an opinion piece titled, “PROF ABC NWOSU, SOUTHEAST NEEDS AN APOLOGY, NOT A RESIGNATION“, argued that the value of professor Nwosu’s resignation ought to be calculated by interrogating his role in the Ortom zoning committee.

While noting that Nwosu represented Anambra state in the 37-member zoning committee led by governor Samuel Ortom, wondered why Nwosu could not register his grievances when the zoning committee which he was a member decided to throw the party’s presidential ticket open instead of zoning it to the southeast region.

He added that his resignation from the PDP was badly timed.

Speaking exclusively with News Band Newspaper, Mefor blamed professor ABC Nwosu for being among the people who killed the dream of Southeast presidency.

While maintaining that he stands for Atiku-okowa ticket, he however, said that if Peter Obi should emerge as president by February, Ndigbo should not take the credit.

He said, “I am for Atiku-Okowa ticket

“People like Nwosu killed the dream. It is late now. If Obi makes it, its not because of Ndigbo”
