The Secretary to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr Olanipekun Olukoyede has denied that he once worked for SimmonsCooper Partners, former law firm of Nigeria’s Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo [SAN].

Mr. Olukoyede made the denial in reaction to a twitter post made by Mr. Jackson Ude who alleged that he was once an employee with Vice President Osinbajo.

The post  claimed that the Vice President worked him into working as EFCC Secretary.

Reacting, however, in a statement made available to ElombahNews, Olukoyede said the allegation is false.

He said it is only an attempt to discredit his person, which explains why he initially disregarded and treated it as a propaganda aimed at mischief.

The EFCC Secretary stated categorically that there was never a time he stepped or walked into the office of SimmonsCoopers, how much more working for the law firm.

Olukoyede referred to the career profile and curriculum vitae he submitted to the Senate during his confirmation hearing in November, 2018.

According to the submission, Ola Olukoyede worked for a finance and investment company, Ecodev Investment.

More details of the submission are as follows:

‘He was the Investment Officer while he worked at Ecodev for about five years.

‘He late started his law career with LRCDP Consulting (Legal Research and Corporate Development Projects) as a research partner.

‘AT LRCDP, he was the consultant and managed the corporate intelligence portfolio with a number of high profile organisations, including financial institutions and law enforcement agencies, beginning from 2002.

‘In 2008, he established Global Compliance GRC, governance, risk and legal consulting outfit.

‘He led and managed it as an attorney for Investigation and Civil Litigations of fraud and corruption in international aid projects.’

Olukoyede said that for several years, he has been involved in the development and implementation of strategic policy documents for operations, legal and administrative units of various anti-corruption agencies.

According to him, that was even before the establishment of SimmonsCoopers Partners.

That includes the EFCC which he served as a trainer and consultant.

Later on in the year 2008, he established his law firm, Ola Olukoyede & CO, from where he would later join the EFCC.
