The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, has congratulated Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, the governor-elect of Abia State over his victory at the poll.
Recall that the Returning Officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the state, Prof Nnenna Nnannaya-Oti declared the former Diamond Bank director winner on Wednesday evening at the resumption of the final collation of results in Umuahia, the Abia State capital.
The electoral umpire had suspended the exercise following reported incidents of thuggery and manipulations of figures at Obingwa Local Government Area.
Otti scored 175,467 votes to defeat his close rival, Okey Ahiwe of the Peoples Democratic Party who polled 88,529 votes
However, Obi in a message on his official twitter handle while expressing happiness that the will of the people prevailed, prayed to God to guide the governor-elect.

He said, “A while ago, I spoke with my brother, Dr. Alex Otti @alexottiofr, the Governor-elect of Abia State and heartily congratulated him on his election. I am gratified that the will and wish freely expressed by the Abia electorates have been respected.
“I pray for God’s guidance and protection for the incoming Governor of God’s Own State.”
