Barr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, the Governor-elect of Enugu State, is a man of many woes, especially the one bordering on offence of forgery and alleged perjury, with prison term staring him in the face.

Barr. Mbah had claimed that he duly served the mandatory one year service, yet is seemingly afraid of inquiries into his pass-out certificate.

Last week, Mbah went to the Federal High Court, Abuja, seeking to stop the Directorate of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) from releasing information about him.

The attempt, it was gathered, was to use the court to stop NYSC from continuing to expose alleged forgeries he reportedly indulged in.

However, this is not the first time NYSC would publish a disclaimer over the controversial certificate.

The National Youth Service Corps Directorate, in a Freedom of Information (FoI) response issued from its Headquarters, had earlier distanced itself from Mbah’s certificate.

Responding to the Principal Partner, Silver & Co. Associates, a legal outfit based in Umuahia, Abia State, with file number NYSC/CC/VER/10/VOL.1/01, NYSC denied issuing the certificate.

In the letter entitled “RE: Application for the confirmation of NYSC certificate status of Mbah Peter Ndubuisi as attached herein“, and signed by one Ibrahim A. Muhammad, on behalf of the Director-General, NYSC wrote:

“I am directed to refer to your Letter dated 29th March, 2023 on the above subject matter and convey Management’s delight kir compliance with the provision of the freedom of information Act 2011.

“We are pleased to inform you that the Certificate of National Service belonging to Mbah Peter Ndubuisi with Certificate number; A808297 forwarded for verification was not issued by the NYSC.

“As we look forward to closer working ties with your organisation, please accept the assurances of Director General’s warmest regards.”

Pundits, therefore, think it is ironic that Mbah is seeking to stop the National Youth Service Corps Directorate from releasing information about him when it has already done so.

An analyst, who spoke to News band on condition of anonymity, said:

“He’s just running from his shadow, NYSC published the disclaimer, over a month ago.

“Why would NYSC publish disclaimer if the certificate is genuine?

“From the report, he claimed he duly served the mandatory one-year service, yet he is afraid NYSC will disclaim his pass-out certificate. Where is the common sense in all of this?

“He parades a forged NYSC discharge certificate which the NYSC has repudiated on a number of occasions.

“A man who should be behind bars for the offence of forgery is unfortunately getting succour from the court who now want to legitimise this criminality,” he lamented. Read more.
