NYSC: 2,126 Corps Members Deployed To Adamawa State

No fewer than 1,126 Corps Members have been deployed to Adamawa State under this year’s batch “A” Programme of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
Addressing the corps members at the swearing in ceremony at Damare Permanent Camp, Governor Muhammadu Jbrilla Bindow said his administration has directed employers to accord their welfare priority attention.
Represented by the Deputy Governor, Mr Martins Babale, the governor lauded the role of NYSC in promoting unity and nation building.
“Our government has directed that corps employers should accord priority to the welfare of corps members.
“Adequate security measures have been put in place in case of any breach. We have also made arraignments to give you decent accommodation and other welfare incentives for optimum performance,” Bindow said.
Babale who noted the contributions of youth corps members to the development of communities in the state announced the donation of one cow and 50 bags of rice to the camp.
In his speech, the State Coordinator of the NYSC, Mallam Abubakar Mohammed, said adequate arrangement had been made to cater for the basic need of the corps members.
Mohammed lauded Adamawa government for its support to NYSC activities.
“I want to express my appreciation to Adamawa State Government for its intervention and support in all our activities.
“Words cannot express how much we appreciate Your Excellency for his zeal and commitment to the return of hosting orientation course in the state.

“This has gone a long way in restoring our corporate image and relevance in the state.
“Thank you very much Sir and we will reciprocate this gesture by contributing to Government’s social transformation agenda,” Mohammed said.
Mohammed who noted that camp life was strictly regimented and designed to inculcate discipline, hard work, team spirit and love for one another, tasked the corps members to aspire to use the opportunity to show patriotism and selfless service to their fatherland.
In his address, the chairman of the state NYSC board and Commissioner for Youth and Sport, who was represented by his Permanent Secretary, Mr Emmanuel Ibrahim, urged the corps members to be law abiding and shun all form of vices.
“You should appreciate and understand the norms, values and customs of your host communities. Strive to make an impact wherever you go.”
In a related development, a “youth corper” from Imo State [names withheld], who was recently posted to Sokoto State has expressed fear and apprehension for the assignment.
The corper cited unrest in various areas in the region as the main cause of fear and pleaded with authorities to reassign him to a “safer” region.
