Christian Norgaard scored a dramatic equaliser in added time, helping Brentford recover from a two-goal deficit against Manchester City.

The match ended in a thrilling 2-2 draw at Gtech Community Stadium.

Phil Foden netted a second-half brace, initially putting the champions in control. However, typical of their inconsistent season, City conceded goals to Yoane Wissa and Norgaard, settling for just one point.

This draw dampens City’s spirits, as they missed a chance to capitalize on Chelsea’s draw with Bournemouth, impacting their top-four ambitions.

Brentford’s early attack included Wissa firing a warning shot wide of Stefan Ortega’s post. However, the hosts hesitated to press City, allowing Josko Gvardiol ample time to advance.

Gvardiol nearly added to his goal tally with a drilled shot, but Mark Flekken expertly kept it out. The attacking duo of Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo proved crucial for Brentford, showcasing their importance after missing the previous FA Cup match.

Both players displayed aggression in their half, with Wissa recovering a loose ball and setting up Mbeumo for a powerful shot that tested Ortega. Despite City’s struggles, Kevin De Bruyne created a significant chance for Erling Haaland, whose header disappointingly sailed wide.

The action intensified after halftime, with both teams pushing for the first goal. Nathan Collins nearly scored with a free header from a corner, while Savinho’s shot rattled the post, keeping the game scoreless.

Shortly after Mikkel Damsgaard’s offside goal, City took the lead in the 66th minute. De Bruyne delivered a curling ball that Foden converted, seemingly securing three points for the visitors.

However, Brentford rallied as Wissa pulled one back with eight minutes remaining, reigniting hopes for the hosts. Ultimately, Norgaard’s late header in the second minute of added time equalized, rewarding his relentless efforts throughout the match.
