Former President of the Senate of Nigeria, Senator Ken Ugwu Nnamani has been appointed as a member of the ‎All Progressives’ Congress (APC) caretaker committee on Thursday.

Senator Nnamani was among the thirteen persons appointed in the list of APC caretaker committee and extra-ordinary convention planning committee.

The nomination followed the dissolution of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress.

NWC was dissolved by the party’s National Executive committee meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Thursday.

This followed the recommendation of President Muhammadu Buhari during the meeting of the National Executive committee meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

After the president’s recommendation, those in attendance agreed to dissolve the NWC.

Following Buhari’s direction, the APC NEC also resolved as follows:

1. The withdrawal of all cases in Court
2. The dissolution of NWC
3. The establishment of Caretaker/Convention Committee
4. The ratification of the Gubernatorial Primaries in Edo State

The governor of Yobe State, His Exellency Mai Mala Buni was appointed as the chairman of the All Progressives Congress’ caretaker committee and extraordinary national convention.

About Nnamani

Nnamani, the only appointee from the South East and from Enugu State, was appointed to represent the South East caucus of the party.

Ken Nnamani is a Nigerian politician who was President of the Senate of Nigeria from 2005 to 2007.

A member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), he was elected to the Senate from Enugu East Senatorial District of Enugu State in 2003.

He served in the Senate until 2007.

He will later defect to the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress.
