The Nigerian Army, alongside security agencies, has ramped up efforts to combat oil theft in the Niger Delta.
Consequently, they recovered over 60,000 litres of stolen crude oil products while arresting 15 suspects during the operations.
A recent statement confirmed the destruction of 32 illegal refineries and the deactivation of 14 boats used for oil theft.
These actions occurred between January 6 and January 12, 2025, showcasing a significant crackdown on criminal activities in the region.
Specifically, in Rivers State, troops operated around the Bille general area, confiscating over 20,000 litres of stolen crude from seven illegal refining sites.
Furthermore, two wooden boats involved in these illicit activities were also destroyed.
“Additionally, along the Imo River, troops deactivated ten illegal refining sites, destroying numerous drum pots and receivers.

Similarly, in Nkisa, one illegal refining site was dismantled, revealing a reservoir filled with over 1,200 litres of illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil.

Along Ndoni road, troops intercepted a Toyota bus transporting 18 sacks of stolen condensates, estimated at over 1,200 litres.

In the Buguma general area, troops eliminated two illegal refining sites and intercepted a small wooden boat loaded with 1,500 litres of stolen crude.
