The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kano State announced the conviction of 12 drug peddlers recently.

Sadiq Maigatari, the agency’s spokesman, shared this news with reporters in Kano on Saturday.

He emphasized that this conviction represents a major milestone in the agency’s ongoing fight against drug-related crimes under Commander Abubakar Ahmad.

Maigatari noted that multiple convictions on the same day illustrate the NDLEA’s unwavering dedication to enforcing the law and a strict anti-corruption stance.

The convicted individuals were found guilty of drug trafficking at the notorious Filin Idi drug den.

Each of the 12 received a three-year prison sentence without the option of a fine, emphasizing the serious nature of their offenses.

Lawan Sani, a peddler, received a five-year sentence after authorities convicted him following a 10-month manhunt for attacking an NDLEA officer.

Maigatari remarked that this major conviction acts as a strong warning to drug traffickers exploiting Filin Idi for their illegal activities.

Commander Abubakar Ahmad guides the NDLEA Kano State Command in pursuing justice for drug offenders and tackling substance abuse challenges.

In previous covert operations, NDLEA arrested three suspected drug dealers in Kano, seizing 2,000 ampoules and 3.1 million pills.

Moreover, he urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious drug activities, as collective action fosters safety.
