Gospel artiste, Nathaniel Bassey, has petitioned the police, seeking lawful punishment for four individuals who insinuated that he had sexual relations with a fellow Gospel singer, Mercy Chinwo.

Bassey filed the petition directly with the Inspector General of Police on April 1, 2024.

The Ebenezer crooner turned in the petition through his lawyers, Peter Abraham, Uche Matthew, Gbenga Agunloye, and Anthony Abia.

This is coming a week after four social media users concocted a mischievous insinuation that Bassey is the biological father of the son of a fellow gospel singer.

The allegation quickly went viral as pictures of the singer and the toddler were circulated online for juxtaposition.

Consequently, Bassey’s lawyers urged the police authorities to, with all sense of urgency, treat the petition against the four social media users, identified in the petition as Okoronkwo Ejike, Kingsley Ibeh, Terrence Ekot and Dj Spoiltkid.

Though, the Gospel artiste’s action has been greeted with mixed reactions. While many endorsed it, some others argued that Bassey should have forgiven the rumour carriers.
