The Nigerian Army has intensified its fight against terrorism and banditry through a series of high-impact military operations.
Consequently, they have neutralized key threats and disrupted criminal activities in multiple regions across the country.
Conducting these operations primarily in Borno, Zamfara, and Sokoto states demonstrates the military’s commitment to restoring peace and security. Their ongoing efforts seek to reclaim troubled areas and bring stability to the affected communities.
On February 17, 2025, Nigerian Army troops executed a daring raid deep inside Iza Forest in Bama Local Government Area. This area, known as a stronghold for Boko Haram terrorists, faced increased pressure from the military’s strategic operations.
In a decisive operation, troops eliminated 10 Boko Haram fighters, forcing others to flee and abandon assets. Following a mop-up, authorities recovered two AK-47 rifles and loaded magazines.
Additionally, troops captured a key terrorist collaborator responsible for extorting ransoms. Meanwhile, in Zamfara State, forces ambushed bandits at Tunfa village, neutralizing one terrorist and arresting a high-value suspect tied to the Sani Black faction.
After securing confessions, troops raided Tunga village, destroying criminal infrastructure and arresting suspects linked to cattle rustling. Expanding efforts, Sokoto State troops apprehended a terrorist at Illela Market, disrupting networks embedded in civilian areas. Finally, authorities emphasized sustained operations to eradicate threats across regions.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, commended the troops for their doggedness and operational efficiency in executing these missions. He reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment to eradicating terrorism, banditry, and other forms of criminality from the nation. General Oluyede also called on patriotic citizens to support the military by providing credible information that could aid ongoing operations.
These coordinated actions reflect the Nigerian Army’s resolve to disrupt terrorist activities and restore normalcy to affected regions. The military continues to urge communities to remain vigilant and cooperative as the fight against insecurity intensifies.
