Man stabs wife to death over mobile phone

Police in Adamawa State have arrested a man for stabbing his wife to death over a missing phone.

The 33 year old suspect identified as Ibrahim Abubakar reportedly accused his wife, Hajara Sa’adu of hiding his phone, resulting in a face-off which he allegedly used a knife against the wife.

Police command in Adamawa said the culprit, who lives in the Sabon Gari of Girei local government area of the state stabbed the deceased at the back repeatedly.

The incident took place about 4.30am on Monday, April 8 when he searched for his phone but could not find it.

The spokesman of the command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, who confirmed the incident, said Abubakar, a professional butcher, stabbed his wife and left her in a pool of blood.

Nguroje explained that the suspect was arrested after the father of the deceased reported the matter to the police.

He added that preliminary investigation led to the recovery of the blood stained knife that the suspect used on his wife.

The police image maker said the suspect had actually confessed to the crime, expressing regret for his action.
