The presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the last election, Mr Peter Obi, has openly endorsed the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), led by Barrister Julius Abure.

The endorsement was done during a gathering at the LP’s National Secretariat in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), where Obi joined the FCT chapter and other supporters to show solidarity with Abure after the controversial 2024 National Convention in Anambra State.

Meanwhile, this event marks the first time the former governor of Anambra State has participated in the National Executive Committee of the Labour Party since the convention held on March 27, 2024.

NewsBand reported that Obi was conspicuously absent from the previous convention, which the Nigeria Labour Congress had described illegal, leading to speculation about his loyalty to the Julius Abure-led NWC due to his prolonged silence.

While addressing these concerns, Obi stressed that his primary focus remains on the well-being of Nigerians, who are enduring significant hardships.

His active participation and endorsement of the current NWC aim to unify the party and reinforce its commitment to addressing the nation’s pressing issues.
