The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has been presented as the emerging fastest growing political party in the country which would spring surprises in coming 2019 general elections nationwide.
Addressing enthusiastic party faithful at Suncity Hotels Awka yesterday, during the formal presentation of Chief Tony Chukwuelue (Idejiuno) as the Anambra Central senatorial candidate of the party, Sen Annie Okonkwo expressed joy that every shade of division within the party had been nipped in the bud.
With a standing ovation from the the audience, Senator Okonkwo described the party as one indivisible family and urged all citizens of the state, especially the senatorial zone to vote SDP as they are committed to the welfare and progress of the masses.
According to him, “I saw the vision of return of SDP 9months ago. It was where I started my political career years ago.
“Our collective aim today is to pull efforts together and sweep the stakes at the polls.
“SDP in Anambra is so lucky to have two Senators -myself from Idemily South and Chief Ikeyina, our Deputy national chairman from Awka North. We will win the Anambra Central Senatorial seat and the Idemili Federal Constituency and with the speed with which we are spreading we will envelope other areas soon.
He described Tony Chukwuelue as the engine room of his office and the pillar of his successes while at the senate.
Senator Ikeyina said his vision for the party was to sweep the South East zone. He therefore appealed for a one hundred support as the ultimate target was the presidency.

The two senators jointly presented and raised the hands of Chukwuelue to the admiration of all, as the man for the job.
Chukwuelue said he was delighted to be chosen for the onerous task, but was confident he would excel having learnt the rudiments of high level national politics as the Senior Legislative Aide to Senator Okonkwo-in lobbying, motions/bills drafting and general legislature administration and management.
He disclosed that most of his bills have been celebrated by the All Progressives Congress government today.
