Dr Obafemi Hamzat, Deputy Governor of Lagos, has reassured any private organisation ready to boost job creation of continued support in the state.

Hamzat gave the assurance when delegates from Elsewedy Electric led by its Chief Commercial Officer and Group Vice President Africa, Mr. Mohamed Atef, paid him a courtesy visit at Alausa in Ikeja on Tuesday.

The deputy governor said Elsewedy Electric would also receive the support of the state government as it would assist in ensuring electricity stability in the state.

Recalling an Executive Order issued by the state to patronise locally produced goods, the deputy governor said it was a strategy to ensure that Nigeria-based companies operated sustainably.

Hamzat said that the state was open to engaging such businesses toward getting to take off and operate successfully.

He promised that Elsewedy Electric would get the state’s support if it put on a sustainable and competitive operation that allowed its products to be marketed to other states.

Earlier in his remarks, the Chief Commercial Officer and Vice President of Elsewedy Electric, Mr. Mohammed Atef, said the visit was to seek the support and cooperation of the state government

toward its expansion and investment drive to boost job creation.

Atef said the company was set to resume operation at its Badagry factory.

Atef explained that apart from producing transformers, the company would also produce prepaid meters for households.

He noted that the development would push the employment of Nigerians in the organisation from 150 to 350 with a significant transfer of technology through training.

The group vice president disclosed that the company would become fully operational by the end of February.

He said that the company was interested and ready to support efforts of the government in developing the state. (NAN)
