To address environmental violations effectively, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) initiated a large-scale enforcement operation on Wednesday.

This operation aims to protect public health and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.

This bold initiative demonstrates LASEPA’s commitment to promoting a healthier environment for all residents.

Consequently, the agency sealed numerous establishments across the state for persistent noise pollution and other regulatory breaches.

During the extensive operation, LASEPA specifically targeted key areas. These included Festac Town, Abule Ado, and Satellite Town.

Moreover, the operation also focused on Ori Ade Amuwo, Agboju, Amuwo, Maza Maza, and Navy Town. This strategic approach aimed to address environmental concerns effectively.

Specifically, the affected establishments included lounges, bars, hotels, religious centers, and warehouses found violating environmental laws.

Among the sealed businesses were Woody’s Lounge, Lifestyle Hotel, The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Obiagu Bar Lounge & Event Center, Flexus Hotel & Suites, Fairview Hotel, Hot Sport Bar, and Bamade Park.

Additionally, warehouses like Mikky Cosmetics, Global Habib, and Royal Rose Company were shut down for non-compliance.

Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, General Manager of LASEPA, reaffirmed the agency’s dedication to creating a healthier and safer Lagos for all residents. This operation underscores their proactive approach to enforcing environmental standards.

In a statement following the enforcement exercise, Dr. Ajayi reiterated the agency’s zero-tolerance stance on environmental violations.

“Noise pollution and other environmental violations disrupt the peace and well-being of our communities,” Dr. Ajayi stated. “Today’s enforcement exercise underscores our dedication to upholding environmental laws and maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all Lagos residents.”

He further called on businesses and organizations to adhere to environmental regulations to avoid further sanctions. Dr. Ajayi highlighted LASEPA’s ongoing efforts to foster a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable Lagos that aligns with the aspirations of its citizens.

The operation serves as a clear warning to defaulters that environmental laws will be strictly enforced in Lagos State. LASEPA continues to urge the public to report incidents of environmental violations to ensure collective responsibility in safeguarding the environment.

This enforcement drive reflects LASEPA’s unwavering resolve to address environmental challenges head-on while promoting public health and safety across the state.
