Lagos Government reaffirms commitment to financial assistance for residents

To address the challenges faced by Lagos residents, the Lagos State Government reaffirmed its commitment to the Sanwo-Olu Listen Financial Assistance Programme.

This initiative aims to provide crucial financial aid to those in need, ensuring support during difficult times.

During his appearance on “Ojutaye,” a Radio Lagos 107.5 FM programme, Dr. Afolabi Abiodun Tajudeen, Special Adviser to the Governor, emphasized this dedication. He highlighted the government’s efforts to alleviate burdens related to housing, education, healthcare, and entrepreneurship.

Dr. Afolabi stressed that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu remains focused on uplifting residents, especially amid economic reforms. He noted the growing pressure on Lagos’ infrastructure due to increasing immigration, underscoring the need for sustainable solutions to support the population.

“We understand the challenges the residents face, and we are here to assist them. That is why we continue to provide financial assistance to struggling Lagos residents. The programme is about empowerment and ensuring that every resident has access to the resources they need to thrive in Lagos,” Dr. Afolabi stated.

Expanded Civic Engagement and Sensitization Efforts

Dr. Afolabi emphasized that his office actively conducts sensitization and advocacy campaigns across all senatorial districts in Lagos State. These efforts, alongside financial assistance, aim to educate residents about government programs, ensuring their active participation in civic matters.

“We are leveraging platforms like the Citizens Gate App to foster an inclusive society,” Dr. Afolabi stated. The app enables residents to report issues directly to authorities, with a dedicated team ensuring prompt and efficient resolution of concerns.

The Lagos State Government reaffirmed its commitment to supporting residents through the Sanwo-Olu Listen Financial Assistance Programme. Dr. Afolabi made this announcement during his appearance on “Ojutaye,” a program on Radio Lagos 107.5fm.

He highlighted that Governor Sanwo-Olu consistently launches programs to ease residents’ burdens. These initiatives assist with house rents, school fees, health challenges, and provide support to entrepreneurs in the community.

Despite the influx of immigrants and strain on infrastructure, Governor Sanwo-Olu remains dedicated to improving residents’ lives. His administration focuses on alleviating hardships during tough economic times marked by significant reforms.

“We understand residents’ challenges and are here to assist them,” Dr. Afolabi stressed. He explained that the financial assistance program prioritizes empowerment, ensuring access to resources for thriving in Lagos.

Additionally, the Office conducts sensitization and advocacy programs across all Senatorial Districts. These initiatives inform residents about government programs, ensuring they remain well-informed and engaged in civic matters.

Dr. Afolabi noted, “We are leveraging the Citizens Gate App to promote inclusivity.” This platform allows residents to report issues, which authorities resolve efficiently through a dedicated team.

He also discussed partnerships with ministries, departments, and agencies, including the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC). This collaboration focuses on voter education for upcoming elections in the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas.

Dr. Afolabi urged residents to utilize state government programs designed to improve their quality of life. These initiatives aim to create opportunities for economic growth and social empowerment across Lagos.

Collaboration with Agencies for Voter Education

Dr. Afolabi highlighted the office’s active collaboration with the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC). This partnership aims to strengthen voter education initiatives across the state, ensuring better public awareness.

The initiative specifically prepares electorates for upcoming elections in 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs). It seeks to empower voters with essential knowledge about their rights and responsibilities.

Additionally, the sensitization efforts focus on reducing voter apathy by educating residents on their voting rights. They also guide individuals through the process of obtaining their permanent voter’s cards, promoting active participation.

Call for Residents to Utilize Government Programmes

The Special Adviser encouraged Lagos residents to actively embrace the state government’s programmes and policies.

He emphasized that these initiatives aim to enhance economic growth, social empowerment, and overall well-being for everyone.
