The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress joins millions of Lagosians to welcome the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the chief change agent, His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari as he embarks on his first official visit to Lagos on Friday, 27th of November 2015.
The party says that the visit, which is meant to commission new security equipment procured by the Lagos State government for the purpose of beefing security in Nigeria’s most important state, shows the commitment of the federal and state governments to deal with the security challenges facing the state.
In a release in Lagos, signed by the Lagos State Publicity Secretary of the APC, Joe Igbokwe, the party says the visit marks the solidification of the important milestone Lagos achieved by achieving a historical alignment with the party at the center for the first time in history for the purpose of consolidating on the immeasurable progress that the state has achieved in sixteen years of progressive governance.
The party wishes President Buhari an eventful visit and more success as he navigates the country from the ruins of the past sixteen years.
“We are delighted that President Buhari is coming to Lagos, not only to commission the massive equipment the Akinwumi Ambode’s government procured to tighten security in Lagos, but also on his first official visit to the State since he assumed power on May 29.
“We see this visit as historical because Lagos embodies the merits of progressive governance, which President Buhari is presently heading for the first time in Nigeria’s history.
“It is therefore no coincidence that a President, whose party rules Lagos, is coming to the state for the very first time in the country’s history.
“We are also excited that Lagos provided the base for the historical victory of progressives against reactionaries for the very first time in Nigeria’s history. So the visit by President to the state is both historical and epochal.
“That President Buhari is coming to commission newly acquired equipments to deal with security challenges in Lagos speaks of the symbiotic commitment of both the federal and Lagos State government to total reduction in crimes and other forms of insecurity.
