The decomposing bodies of Mr and Mrs Okonkwo have been found in a forest in Ukpata community in the Uzouwani local government area of Enugu State.
The couple were said to have been kidnapped about two weeks ago on their farms by people suspected to be herders.
One of their sons reportedly raised the alarm when they did not return from the farm.
A search party comprising local vigilantes and men in the community was mobilised to look for the couple but the team only recovered their belongings and did not find them.
However, after several days of searching for the couple, community sources told SaharaReporters that operatives of the Eastern Security Network (ESN), the militant wing of the Indigenous People of Biafra were invited to help out.

“Unfortunately, on Friday the ESN operatives found their decomposing bodies inside one of the forests in the area bordering Kogi State.
“It was discovered that some parts of their bodies are missing. They have been evacuated by the community. Our people have also reported the matter to police not because they will do anything but for record purposes,” the source said.
