HURIWA National Coordinator Comrade Emmanuel OnwubikoA pro-Democracy Non-governmental organization -HUMAN RIGHTS WRITERS ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA  (HURIWA ) has alleged that the recent spate of

key Federal Appointments including very sensitive national security positions which are tilted towards favoring one section of the Country which is Northern Nigeria where the President Muhammadu Buhari hails from amounted to a serious impeachable offence which must not be swept under the carpet by the National Assembly to save Nigeria from sliding into anarchy.

In a statement signed jointly by the National Coordinator Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko and the National Media affairs Director Miss Zainab Yusuf, HURIWA condemned the refusal of President Muhammadu Buhari to equitably redistribute publicly strategic positions to all parts of the Country and specifically the Rights group said the non-appointment of a Nigerian of South East extraction into the few strategic policy making offices is a plot to create disunity in the country and a subterranean plot to instigate crisis in the South East.

HURIWA has however urged for calm and tranquility and not allow the lopsided appointments by the current President to destabilise the Unity of Nigeria.

HURIWA has therefore asked the National Assembly to investigate the circumstances and reasons as to the clearly demonstrated lopsidedness in the very recent top level national appointments made by President Muhammadu Buhari with a view to ascertaining if any impeccable crime has been implicitly committed since the failure to equitably redistribute national political offices amounted to a breach violation of the constitutional Federal Character principle.

HURIWA recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari approved the appointments of Babachir David Lawal as Secretary to the Government of the Federation; Abba Kyari as Chief of Staff to the President and Col. Hameed Ibrahim Ali (rtd.) as Comptroller-General Nigerian Customs Service (NCS).

HURIWA also condemned the refusal of President Muhammadu Buhari to appoint any military officer of South East origin as one of the service chiefs thereby denying the South East the constitutional right to seat in the National Security Council.  This is patently unfair and unjust, says HURIWA.
