June 12: Kudirat Abiola, Maryam Babangida Engaged In Fisticuff —Agbakoba

Chief Olisa Agbakoba, a former President of the Nigeria Bar Association [NBA] has revealed that late Kudirat Abiola, the late wife of late MKO Abiola engaged late Mariam Babangida, the wife of former Head of State, General Ibrahim Babangida, in fisticuff in Aso Rock over June 12.

Chief Agbakoba made the revelation in an interview with Saturday PUNCH.

He said the duo engaged themselves in physical fight in Aso Rock over the annulment of the June 12, 1993 presidential election.

Agbakoba said Kudirat had a great sense of decency in the actualisation of the June 12 mandate but lost all decency when she attacked Mariam Babangida.

The trouble kicked off when Babangida invited Abiola to Aso Rock for a meeting and Abiola had taken along Kudirat.

He explained that it took the intervention of the two husbands and others to stop the raging fight.

Agbakoba said: “It was Kudirat who had a great sense of decency; Abiola was a bit a too ambitious in wanting to become president.

“He went to Aso Rock to meet with Babangida in the course of which Babangida’s wife and Kudirat started fighting.

“It led to a fight and Babangida and other people had to rush out to separate them.”
