Insurgency cum Islamist fundamentalism: The silent hypocrisy

Hypocrisy is the worst thing that can happen to a people. Sometimes, we need to tell ourselves the bitter truth and stop being hypocritical. From my experience

in time past, let me be sincere, I do not see the Nigerian Soldiers successfully fighting off the Islamist fundamentalist. Reasons are simple. Every Muslim from the north of Nigeria has a silent sympathy we all know it, yet we pretend our friends (old and new) are different.

It’s the truth; majority of our Muslims from the north do not think it is a bad idea to Islamize Nigeria, (Forced comments and their silence explains it). These too we also know, so why shy away from it? This also explains the reasons why Northern Governors (except those from Secular Northern states) are all one way or the other funding the Islamic fundamentalists. It is a sort of responsibility to them religiously. We are educated, and religious; let’s know that religion is the only philosophy that conquers logic and reasoning. So please, let us stop deceiving ourselves.

Having said this, how on earth do we expect an Army that is made up of both religions to secure Intel that will be used to destroy what they silently seek? Do you think if I was a commanding officer leading a battle against my kinsmen and religious brothers that are extremist, do you honestly think I will go in the death of the night to carry out an offensive when I know my relatives and blood brother (even if rebels) will be my spoil of the offensive? To worsen the matter, in this case, every Muslims technically wishes that the insurgency operation witness the light of the day even though they may not accept the tactics or method of these achievements. Except for very few secular Muslims, all Muslims are not comfortable to be led by a non-Muslim. This trend however, may likely take a new turn since a Muslim man is now the commander in chief of the armed forces, a feat they long anticipated.

Let us stop deceiving ourselves putting Islam and Christianity together is like making efforts to mix oil and water. While Christians will mind their business in the midst of Muslims, they may ordinarily allow Muslims to be on their own and will not be easily provoked to slap, beat not to talk of killing a Muslim even if he is alone, the Muslim on the other part can react to what is happening in Japan and decide to kill all the Christians even if the Muslims are less. They have the will to defend their religion that is alien to Christian that would prefer and will always want to depend on divine intervention. It’s a different orientation and ball game.

I will still display my share of hypocrisy to say that we remain as one Nigeria even though deep inside my hearts of hearts, it would be safer for me and my Christian brothers and sisters if we lived and friends but not as compatriots. In Sudan today, a woman was kill two years ago (because she is pregnant) because she married a Christian and refused to denounce Christianity. And a government court has condemned her to death. Is that the kind of law we want in Nigeria of today? Is that not taking us to the stone ages? Why would any right thinking people believe that religion should be under mandatory? This is where the fear of Islam and its fundamentals is the beginning of wisdom. I write with all sincerity in my heart and at this point, my patriotism is in question when logic and reasonability is applied.

Concerning the war against Boko Haram, Nigerian Troops and agencies will never win the war as long as Muslims are also part of the troops. Let’s forget about winning that war, the International community will successfully take out Boko Haram in 4 weeks. I have studied their operation. They are ill experienced. Their success lies in their pre-knowledge of movement of Federal troops. I can confirm to you that the Boko Haram strategist know every movement and deployment going on in the Nigerian Military even before the troops are briefed. Same is applicable in the DSS, NIA, DMI and other agencies. 

In my opinion, it is only an elite force (DELTA, SEAL, ALPHA and so on) can take out Boko Haram. Identities of the Special Forces are usually unknown to everybody except their instructors. (We had about 3 in 1999 that I was aware of) And maybe the President, through the NSA when necessary; a formidable force that will eliminate all traits and sympathy of the designated enemy; a unit made up of those that do not have tendencies of any possible root, connection or sympathy of the enemies course, is the only unit that can fight Boko Haram. 

Otherwise, let the assault battalion, legion, Platoon or unit be a unilateral force outside of Nigerian origin. This, explain why peace-keeping forces that have always succeeded are usually foreign to the country of Conflict.

To this end, I agree with the US general that the Nigerian troops do not have the will to fight Boko Haram and will never succeed if they try. Reasons are:

(1) fear of being framed or set-up to be killed by those with sympathy in commanding positions, 

(2) fear of fighting against one’s believe. 

When once there is no united will, fighting power is meaningless as even the igniting blade can be disable during battle by a member of your unit. Let us forget about our soldiers being ill-equipped, when there is a will, it surpasses those with only fighting power with less fighting will.

In conclusion, it is opposite to maintain that the foreign force is the only viable solution to this menace.
