Dr Chike ObidigboRenowned industrialist and a governorship candidate in the Nov 16, 2013 in Anambra state, Dr Chike Obidigbo (Osisioma Igbo) has charged President Muhammadu

Obidigbo made this charge last weekend during a get together by the Chief Shedrack Anakwe’s led All Progressives Grand Alliance( APGA) to mark his 60th birthday at Umunya, pointed out that unemployment problem must be given serious attention of its effects on the nation most especially in the area of crime fighting.

He noted that all efforts towards reducing crime rate in the society will always run into a brick wall except urgent realistic step is taken to properly empower and engage the teeming youths who are roaming the streets in search of daily bread, stressing that the idiom that says an idle hand is the devils workshop would always come true.

The industrialist regrets that succeeding administrations did not do so much to address the situation and warned that the incumbent should avoid falling into the same error of neglecting the youths who are expected to be leaders of tomorrow. He noted that one of the major ways of getting the youths of the streets is to develop the non-oil sectors which has largely been neglected for long most especially other minerals and agriculture

He also urged the president to look beyond political party affiliation and other primordial considerations while putting his cabinet together, pointing out those giving appointments to family, friends and cronies is one of the major factors that have militated against the progress of the country.

The former governorship aspirant said that the only thing that ensures a solid foundation for the nation’s growth and development is to ensure that qualified and competent people are given appointments.

He however stressed the need for all and sundry to cooperate with the president as it is practically impossible for an individual to have the capacity to give everything to the populace which he noted gives room for people to contribute their quota to national development.

On what he would have done differently if he had made it to the Awka seat of government, Obidigbo said that it is true that the state government has invested on roads and other infrastructure, he said would have invested heavily on the economy by encouraging indigenous productive entrepreneurs so that they create more wealth and employment.

The occasion of the 60th birthday attended by friends, families and political associates was used to pray for Nigeria in general and Anambra state in particular.
