Imo Residents Decry High Cost Of Sachet Water
Residents of Owerri the Imo state capital has condmned the high cost of satchet water otherwise known as “pure water”.
Some of the residents who spoke to our correspondent said that they woke up only to see that pure water now sells for #20 as against the old price of #10.
For Mrs Ihekoronye Mabella, she said that government should look into the matter, pointing out that water is consumed daily as such should not be high.
For Osinachi Ugochukwu, a student, she said that the new cost of pure water will affect some of the them.
Mr Anthony Emeruom said that the people will go back to the old order, where drinking water were tied in nylon bags and sold for five naira.
A worshipper with Winners chapel Owerri who chose to remain annonymous, said that they didn’t see pure water to buy at the end of their midweek service.
A resident of Nekede in owerri North Local Government Area of IMO State, said that some shop owners there sale a satchet of water for as high as #30 per one.
It was gathered that the recent increase in the price of satchet water is unconnected to the high cost of production materials.
