…Set to unveil leadership template soon

The Coalition of Imo State Young Leaders has warned politicians with dubious antecedents to keep totally away from the forthcoming governorship race in the state, and vowed that the group would play a central role in ensuring that Imo gets a focused, visionary and competent leadership during the governorship election slated for November 2023.

In a statement made available to newsmen in Owerri, weekend, the President General of the Coalition, Mazi Franklin Ngoforo, said young people in the state have been silent for too long, thereby allowing those whom he described as “emergency rulers with sinister intentions” to run the state aground.

His words, “Nobody that loves Imo state will sit back at this critical moment and watch while our only state burns down to ashes because of bad governance. Today, Imo has become an object of caricature among the comity of states. And young people must lead the charge to turn around the circumstances.

“Most parts of our state have been taken over by criminal elements. Young people in Imo have absolutely zero access to employment opportunities. Even the incentives needed for their entrepreneurial abilities to flourish are totally lacking. Killings of genocidal proportion have become daily occurrences now in Imo. And in all these, the young people are the greatest casualties.

“By uniting all the young leaders across Imo state under one umbrella, this Coalition of Young Leaders is irreversibly dedicated to ensuring that Imo never suffers poor and disastrous misrule any longer,” he said.

Continuing, Ngoforo revealed that the group would soon release what he termed “Leadership Select Template (LST)”, which according to him will clearly stipulate the abilities and qualifications which the choice governor of Imo state in 2023 must possess.

For him, “Allowing the governorship seat of Imo state to be an all-comers affairs has been most catastrophic. This time, there must be a set of credentials which must be possessed by anyone who must govern Imo going forward. Whoever is favoured by the unyielding standards which will be set shall have the overwhelming support of Ndimo to serve,” he said.
