The Igbo Community in Oxford has been shaken to the roots following the killing of a most respected member of their community, Onyema Anyanwu (Chief Ejiogu). Chief Ejiogu travelled from Oxford UK, to Nigeria, on Sunday the 12th of July, and was killed on the night of Monday 13th of July.

He was tragically shot-dead by gunmen in his home town of Umungara Obohia in Ahiazu Mbaise, Imo State. The killing happened over a month ago and yet little progress has been made in bringing the killers to justice.
His death has shocked the Igbo community in Oxford. Chief Ejiogu was an upstanding member of Oxford Igbo Union.
A kind and loving family man, his daughter had just returned from University for the summer vacation, and instead of preparing for her upcoming internship, she is now facing this terrible ordeal.
Chief Ejiogu was a Nigerian and British citizen and had lived in Oxford since the early 1980s where he worked for an Engineering firm until his retirement.
Oxford Igbo Union has asked the Inspector General of Police in Nigeria, Mr Solomon Arase, to ensure that the killing of Chief Ejiogu is thoroughly investigated and the killers are brought to justice.
The Union had also earlier written to the Commissioner of Police in Imo state.
