Ifeanyi Ubah investments in football & FC Ifeanyi Ubah’s impact on Anambra sports

Having been established in 2015 by Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Ubah, FC Ifeanyi Ubah also known as “Anambra Warriors” has grown to become the biggest privately owned club in the Nigerian Professional Football League with Senator Ubah ranking as the largest private investor in Nigerian football today.

Over the past 5 years, FC Ifeanyi Ubah has defied all preconceptions to become the only privately owned football club in Nigeria that has consistently remained in the NPFL without any threat of relegation.

FC Ifeanyi Ubah met Ikorodu United which lasted only a year, Remo Stars which is owned by bet9ja also lasted one season in each of their entry, while ABS football club of Kwara owned by Saraki lasted only one year and Go Round FC lasted for just two years before being eliminated from the NPFL.

Presently, FC Ifeanyi Ubah is the only privately owned club playing against 18 Government owned clubs and one church owned club, MFM, in the NPFL.

In 2016, FCIU clinched the historic Federation cup and the Charity Cup in 2017 (Champion of Champions); a feat no club from Anambra had ever achieved since the creation of the state.

FCIU has also won the Anambra FA cup consecutively for 4 years (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and came second in 2019). FCIU also has in its kitty, the Nigeria Challenge Cup and the Super Two cup.

In keeping with the tradition of setting new standards, in January 2016, FC Ifeanyi Ubah became the first club in the Nigerian premier football league to attract and sign Brazilian footballers and trainers which has undoubtedly added value, flair and glamour to the NPFL.

In May 2018, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah was unanimously elected as the chairman of the Anambra State Football Association (ANSFA) and has since then served with genuine commitment, transparency and integrity.

His sterling performance in the Anambra FA and formidable achievements as a private investor in the Nigerian football community also earned him an appointment into the CAF organizing committee of the African Cup of Nations.

That makes Senator Ifeanyi Ubah the only Anambrarian who is a member of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) and Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Another historic feat was achieved in August 2016 when FC Ifeanyi Ubah became the first Nigerian club to partner a European club as it signed a partnership deal with West Ham United of England.

A club that has one of the best academies in the world, producing global superstars like Frank Lampard, Rio Ferdinand, Michael Carrick, Joe Cole to mention but a few.

FC Ifeanyi Ubah brought West Ham to Anambra State to visit some schools and make some donations, reassuring Ndi Anambra State on the partnership.

Today, Anambra can boast of several youths from the State playing in different football leagues around the world. Sen. Ubah has sponsored over 80 Anambra youths to the United Kingdom, Over 70 Anambra Youths to the Russia 2018 world cup tournament, Egypt, Ghana, Dubai and China.

Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Ubah has demonstrably staked the highest as he has invested billions of naira in building the first internationally recognized stadium, a feat Anambra state never achieved in its 25 years of existence.

This stadium which is approved by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) was constructed from scratch in less than 2 years and became the first privately owned stadium in Nigeria to be approved by the African Football governing body.

FC Ifeanyi Ubah also became the first football team from Anambra State to have a CAF match played at their stadium when FCIU hosted Al-Masri of Egypt. Sen. Ubah has built not just a stadium but also a Games Village where multiple games and sporting activities will be held and targeted at youth development.

Indeed, FC Ifeanyi Ubah is truly representing and putting Anambra on the global pedestal, hence the name “Anambra Warriors”.

It is worthy to put this record straight before the public that Senator Ifeanyi Ubah is the biggest private investor in Nigerian football whose “Think Home” philosophy and symmetrical vision to promote social and economic advancement through football programmes remains unsurpassed.
