How I lost $3.7m in 2024 trading forex — Mark Angel
Nigerian content creator Mark Angel has revealed how tough 2024 was for him.
Mr. Mark said that he lost $3.7 million in forex trading. The loss left him in debt and struggling to cope with one of the hardest times of his life.
In a sober post on his official Instagram page on Sunday, Mark explained how the financial loss shattered his life.
Loan sharks took his properties, and the weight of his debts made him feel hopeless.
In the depths of his turmoil, he admitted to moments of hopelessness, even contemplated suicide.
Mark said, “The year 2024 began like every other year, but I had no idea how much it would test me how much it would break me, yet ultimately reshape me. It was the year I lost everything,” he wrote.
“I trusted the wrong hands in forex and lost all my money. Nobody knew except my family and closest circle. The weight of the loss, over $3.7 million was suffocating. I was drowning in debts, and one by one, I watched all my properties slip into the hands of loan sharks. It felt like my world was crumbling, and in my darkest moments, I considered ending it all.”
“But God…if not for His mercies, I wouldn’t be here writing this. He sent angels into my life when I needed them the most,” Mark wrote, reflecting on how divine intervention and support from loved ones helped him survive the ordeal.
He expressed gratitude for his close-knit support system which included friends, family, his pastor, ex-wife Mandy, daughters Victoria and Mila, his son Schoolboy and his social media assistant Bright.
Mark also revealed that while he was in therapy to recover from the trauma, another devastating blow came, a scandal that shook his career and exposed the true nature of those around him.
He admitted that this experience revealed fake friends and hidden saboteurs but also taught him valuable lessons about trust, resilience and faith.
“2024 was the hardest year of my life, but it was also the year God drew me closer to Him. Through the ashes, He taught me resilience, faith, and the true meaning of grace. I don’t take it for granted that I’m alive today,” he said.
