By inviting experts and institutions, they emphasize the government’s commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s education sector and public services.

The event aims to deliberate on a proposed amendment to the Tertiary Education Trust Fund Act, 2011.

This amendment seeks to introduce additional conditions for beneficiary institutions to access funds for capital projects, alongside other related matters.

The public hearing is scheduled to take place on Friday, February 28, 2025, at 9:00 AM.

The venue for the event is Meeting Room 201, located on the second floor of the New Building at the House of Representatives within the National Assembly Complex in Abuja.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, will formally declare the session open. Consequently, all members will focus on the agenda ahead.

Hon. Onuoha, Chairperson of the Committee on TETFUND and Other Services, highlighted the importance of engaging stakeholders. This inclusive approach is vital for ensuring the legislative process succeeds and meets its goals.

Therefore, the committee encourages relevant stakeholders and the public to submit memoranda that will enhance the discussions.

To facilitate contributions, submissions must include 20 hard copies and one soft copy saved on a flash drive, directed to the Clerk of the Committee.

The upcoming hearing will actively involve key figures from Nigeria’s education sector.

Furthermore, their participation will play a crucial role in shaping the discussions and outcomes.

This engagement highlights the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing educational challenges.

These include the Honourable Minister of Education, the Attorney-General of the Federation, the Accountant-General of the Federation, and Executive Secretaries from various educational bodies.

Leaders from academic unions, such as ASUU, ASUP, and COEASU, will actively participate in the event.

Furthermore, representatives from student unions, including the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), will also join in.

Their involvement is crucial to fostering a comprehensive dialogue.

Other participants include chairpersons of committees representing vice chancellors, polytechnic rectors, and college provosts.

This initiative reflects the 10th House of Representatives’ unwavering commitment to fostering inclusive dialogue and strengthening Nigeria’s tertiary education sector.

Stakeholders and the general public are encouraged to actively engage in shaping this critical legislative amendment.

Consequently, they can improve access to funding for educational institutions across the country, benefiting students and communities alike.
