Yesterday Thursday 1st September, 2022, a picture emerged showing the Labour Party [LP] presidential candidate, HE Mr Peter Obi in the middle of men that included Prof. Pat Utomi and Mr Valentine Ozigbo.

Many of those in the opposition camp, upon sighting the pictures, quickly jumped into a ludicrous insinuation that the visionary man of transformational leadership who is currently touring eight cities in three different countries has listened to an opinion that he should be moving around with a team. They didn’t stop there.

They added that there is need to balance members of his team with a touch of gender equality. And that’s not all. They went down the drain to include religion and tribalism into the mix, saying he patronizes Catholics more than any other denominations, whilst not including people of other tribes in his team. What a mass of blistering colours of ignorance, and I must add, an attempt to remain perpetually low at the doorstep of mischief!

It is on the historical record that the man who governed Anambra State for eight years with United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs feasible blueprint christened Anambra Integrated Development Strategy, ANIDS only moves to an important destination with an efficient team only relevant to a given meeting. Historical records are there to vindicate him.

Go and verify that when he was governor, his Commissioner for Planning, Prof Stella Chinyere Okunna, who also doubled as his Chief of Staff were moving around with him to every meeting within and without the state. Even after his tenure as governor, a team comprising men and women of competence and expertise were moving with him to strategic events.

These people forgot so soon that prior to party primaries in the heat of his presidential ambition, the man also called Okwute toured all the states of the federation except Adamawa, with a competence team that included Lady Chidi Onyemelukwe; the daughter of the late former vice president, Sir Alex Ekwueme.

Yes, his principles hasn’t changed. He remains eternal in character and principles. He is a man of prudence who believes in cutting down the cost of governance, so that the surpluses could be used to cater for the development of society and humanity.

He remains the man of strategic planning whose time and schedule are factored on how best to effectively administer the instruments of governance to lift an already improvised economy and people out of poverty.

He remains that ecumenical personality whose tenure as the state governor offered more hands of assistance to different denominations outside his catholic faith. The man who came far ahead of his generation is not a regular politician; this should sink!

Making a mountain out of a molehill is not what we need at this point in time. This time calls for a sober reflection and restraints. We must reflect on what we want to leave behind for the future of our young and unborn generation.

It is time to reflect seriously with our pure conscience, because what is paramount at this stage of our national development is to rescue our sinking country from the seas of transactional looters, and properly position it toward being in the comity of developed countries in the world!

Taking back power from the grips of greedy government machineries and placing it in the efficient hands of capable generation that will salvage and pull dear country out of its dungeon of economic doom is one of the most important challenging issues to face!

The LP presidential candidate has been on an eight-day-eigth-city tour across three countries in Europe and America, having an enlightening engagements with Nigerians in Diaspora.

So far, it has been an exciting session of feasible plans, programmes and policies that shall be implemented in the vision to turn around dear country from consumption ridden economy to production bound nation.

In his words, “We will proactively reassert Nigeria’s leadership role in African affairs through constructive engagement, using existing sub-regional and regional forums as well as bilateral platforms for dialogue on current and emerging challenges…

We will aggressively pursue human capital development in the education and health sectors, within available resources; with a view to adopting pertinent global best practices in both sectors”.
