Gunmen invaded Gambar Sabon Layi community in Tafawa Balewa LGA of Bauchi State, killed five people and kidnapped one person.
A resident of the community said the gunmen came in the night, shot sporadically into the air, kidnapped one Mr. Daniel, killed the hamlet head and four others.
Another resident, Manasseh Danladi, said “Yesterday (Saturday), some people came to our village and killed my uncle with four others while Mr Daniel was taken away.”
But police spokesman Ahmed Wakil said only four persons were killed while one person was injured.

He said, “A distress call received by the command on January 22, about 03:45 hours, said some gunmen had invaded Gambar Sabon Layi village and attacked residents. Detectives were drafted to the scene, and they evacuated the victims to the Tafawa Balewa General Hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, four victims were certified dead while one person sustained injuries.
“Also, one person was confirmed kidnapped by the assailants. The Commissioner of Police, Aminu Alhassan, has directed that investigation starts soon.”
