A group, Kaduna Progressives Forum, has advised President Bola Tinubu not to consider former Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufai for any political appointment in his cabinet.

The group gave the warning in a statement jointly signed by its National Coordinator, Alhaji Abdullahi Garba and General Secretary, and made available to newsmen in Abuja on Thursday.

The group said that as loyal members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) since 2014 with special interest for the future of Kaduna State, they were compelled to draw Tinubu’s attention to some salient issues he should consider in assembling his cabinet and why El-Rufai shouldn’t be appointed.

The group said that APC lost to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state in the Feb. 25 presidential election because of alleged anti-party activities of El-Rufai.

It added that his policies especially in the second tenure were not favourable to the people.

These policies, according to the group include the demolition of houses and markets without compensation, sack of teachers and civil servants against advice of APC elder statesmen.

“The development puts the party at variance with the wishes of Kaduna people, hence, their rejection of APC at the polls,” the group said.

It also said El-Rufai is currently under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged sales of Federal Government houses when he was Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

It said that El-Rufai should not be considered because of issues regarding religious tolerance including appointment of Muslim religion leader in Kaduna South, a Christian dominated part of the state.

“Your excellency, you have proven your mettle of distaste for injustice and corruption and we plead that Malam El-Rufai should not be offered a slot of appointment representing Kaduna State,” it said. Read more.
