Rivers State, Nigeria – Recently, Maj.-Gen. Emmanuel Eric Emekah, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 6 Division, Nigerian Army, urged troops to maintain inter-agency collaboration during operations.
On February 11, 2025, he promptly responded to this urgent call during his inaugural visit to the Sector 3 Headquarters of Joint Task Force Operation Delta Safe (JTF OPDS) in Ogoloma, Okrika LGA.
Moreover, Maj.-Gen. Emekah emphatically emphasized the critical importance of collaborative security measures in safeguarding national assets while tackling economic sabotage in the Niger Delta.
Additionally, he praised troops for curbing oil theft and pipeline vandalism, while urging intensified action against economic saboteurs.
Stating, “Your task of protecting critical infrastructure remains paramount,” Emekah directed troops to collaborate closely with agencies.
He concluded, “Together, we can exceed the Federal Government’s oil production targets by dismantling illegal activities.”
Sector 3 Commander Reassures Commitment
While welcoming the GOC, Sector 3 JTF OPDS Commander Brig.-Gen. Sani Ahmed reaffirmed the sector’s commitment to its mandate.
He noted recent progress in upgrading logistics, including maintaining boats and developing infrastructure, stating these efforts aimed to enhance operational efficiency.
Brig.-Gen. Ahmed further expressed confidence that the upgrades would strengthen the sector’s ability to effectively tackle regional security challenges.
Visit to Traditional Ruler Seeks Community Support
As part of his visit, Maj.-Gen. Emekah paid a courtesy call to the Amanyanabo of Okochiri Kingdom, His Royal Majesty King Ateke Michael Tom.
During the meeting, he formally introduced himself as the new leader of the 6 Division.
Additionally, he acknowledged the crucial role traditional rulers play in fostering peace and stability.
Maj.-Gen. Emekah commended King Ateke for his contributions to maintaining peace in Rivers State.
Furthermore, he urged the monarch to continue advocating for harmony within his domain.
He also appealed to vandals and criminal elements to stop illegal activities.

In his response, King Ateke underscored the importance of peace as a foundation for progress.
“Without peace, we cannot succeed in any endeavor,” he stated.
