The outgoing National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon Victor Giadom has accepted the decision of the National Executive Committee (NEC) dissolving the National Working Committee (NWC) in the interest of the party.

Hon Giadom disclosed this in multiple tweets on his Twitter handle on Thursday.

In a statement credited to him, Chief. Hon Victor Giadom said:

“[I] accept the decision of the National Executive Committee dissolving the National Working Committee in the interest of the party.

“I therefore call on all of my colleagues to accept the decision of the National Executive Committee dissolving the National Working Committee in the interest of the party and support the Caretaker Committee headed by His Excellency Mai Mala Buni the present Governor of Yobe State so as to reposition our party to greatness.

“No sacrifice will be too much to pay for the growth and development of our party and the party decision is supreme.

“We thank President Muhammadu Buhari and the entire National Executive Committee of the Party for rescuing our party from crisis.

“Finally, let me thank all the people that supported me during this period of crisis and also, thank those that didn’t support me. Let us all put the past behind us as disagreement and contestation is the beauty of democracy.”

President Muhammadu Buhari had thrown his weight behind Giadom, as APC leader.

Announcing President Buhari’s position, the Senior Special Assistant on Media to President, Mallam Garba Shehu stated:

“In response to enquiry by some State House Correspondents:

“The President has received very convincing advice on the position of the law as far as the situation in the party is concerned and has determined that the law is on the side of Victor Giadom as Acting National Chairman.

“Because he will always act in accordance with the law, the President will be attending the virtual meeting Giadom called for tomorrow afternoon.

“We urge the media to stop promoting manufactured controversies and to not give any further room for mischievous interpretations of the law on this matter.

“In addition to the President, the Giadom meeting will, hopefully, be attended by our Governors and the leaders of the National Assembly.”
