The executive governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, on Friday, sworn in nine re-nominated commissioners in the state.

The nine commissioners who are known loyalists of the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, resigned their various appointments in the heat of the face off between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, Wike.

The swearing in ceremony was done at the state Executive Council Chambers of the Government House in Port Harcourt

They are however rejoining the Fubara’s administration as part of the peace deal brokered by President Bola Tinubu.

Speaking during the swearing in on Friday, Fubara noted that it was unfortunate that the nine commissioners were caught up in the crisis of confidence between him and Wike, a former ally.

While congratulating the commissioners, the governor urged them to be guided by the interest of the state in their heart.

He said, “I don’t think I have any charge for you. You have already read your charge to uphold the Constitution of the fed republic of Nigeria. I urge you to do the right thing.

“I can see how heavy your hearts are. I don’t blame you. You were caught between the crossfire.”
