Laori disclosed this in Yola on Thursday as he blamed the Federal Government for not doing enough to ensure that the people derive maximum benefit from the excess water release from the Lagdo dam adding that the people were only left to suffer the consequences of the Dam.

He noted that the call by some persons to the effect that affected communities along the River bank should be relocated was ingenious noting that the people have been staying in harmony with the River for decades but the peace was shattered after the Lagdo Dam in Cameroon republic was constructed as the River was filled up by sand.

The lawmaker called on the Federal Government to adopt a lasting solution to the perennial flooding by constructing an embankment across affected communities, constructing the Dasin Hausa buffer dam or dredging the entire river.

He stressed that as a lawmaker he will lobby and continue to champion the construction of the Dasin Hausa buffer dam which was abandoned decades ago for a lasting solution to the perennial flooding.

While commenting on the recent flood that bedeviled his constituency, Laori said the devastation wreaked on his community was simply unprecedented as such he arranged an emergency relief package including food and non-food items worth N2.5 million to his people.

He also commended the anti-corruption stance of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration noting that as lawmakers, they will give the president the necessary support to win the war.

Kwamoti noted that he was not surprised by the feats being recorded by the administration as he said that in the annals of Nigeria’s democratic history, Buhari was the only president that prepared well for the job.

He noted that most of the past president’s assumed the office by accident as they were variously hoisted on the country by powerful forces leading to the underdevelopment of the country.

The lawmaker who was the only Man elected on the platform of Social Democratic Party (SDP) during the last polls and vowed to remain a minority in the National Assembly House.
