General Christopher Musa, Nigeria Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), has announced that the necessary documents for the extradition of Simon Ekpa, the self-acclaimed Prime Minister of Biafra Government In Exile, have been submitted to the Finnish authorities.

Mr. Ekpa, the gang leader of Autopilot group—a breakaway faction of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB), has been accused of inciting violence in Nigeria through his violent separatist campaigns.

General Musa made this revelation during an update on national security, stressing the government’s commitment to combating the activities of individuals who promote unrest in Nigeria while residing abroad.

“Well, I’m sure he is cooling off somewhere,” the defence chief said on Channels Television‘s 2024 Year-In-Review programme on December 31, 2024.

“Legal action is going to be taken accordingly. I don’t want to say much about that but I’m happy he has been arrested.

“The Federal Government has actually forwarded most of the requirements to the Finnish Government. So, I’m sure the right thing will be done,” he added.

Also, he said the sit-at-home instigated by Ekpa and his allies in the South-East of Nigeria is wearing off because of the clearance operations by the military.

NewsBand reported that in November 2024, Finnish authorities arrested Ekpa alongside four others on suspicion of terror-related activities, including incitement to violence and terrorism financing.

Finland district court in Lahti had ordered the remand of Ekpa who was accused of using social media platforms to spread separatist propaganda and advocating for the secession of South-Eastern of Nigeria.

New Biafra Government In Exile Leader, Dr. Ngozi Orabueze Dismisses General Christopher Musa Claim.

But Dr. Ngozi Orabueze, the new leader of Biafra Government In Exile, in a post on her official X handle, dismissed Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff claim of submitting necessary documents for the extradition of Simon Ekpa back to Nigeria.

Ngozi, a serving nurse in the United States and former Chief of Staff to Ekpa, who toppled the government of his principal barely a month after he was arrested, while quoting Finnish authorities revealed that Simon Ekpa’s interrogation is advancing and that he has more access to his family now.

“Simon interrogation is advancing and we hope the restriction will be lifted soon, he has more access to his family now”, Ngozi Orabueze said.

She further argued that Nigeria has no extradition agreement with Finland and Finland, like other European Union countries, does not extradite its citizens outside the country.

“Nigeria has no extradition agreement with Finland and Finland, like other European Union countries, does not extradite its citizens outside the region.

“Nigeria government is frustrated that PM Simon Ekpa has no case to answer and will soon be out of investigation

“Please ignore the lies from the Nigeria terrorist enabler – Christopher Musa”, she added.
