EXCLUSIVE: How Nigerian Army Brutalized & Arrested Kalu Umere Kalu IPOB Coordinator in Arochukwu
By Kalu Nwokoro Idika
It was a black Thursday for the Indigenous People Of Biafra in Ozu Abam community in Arochukwu Local government Area of Abia State after the Nigerian army invaded the home of Kalu Umere Kalu who is the coordinator of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) in the local government.
According to a family source that contacted Elombahnews, the army came for Kalu after he was falsely accused of being a member of the Eastern Security Network.
Kalu according to the family source was terribly beaten and even injured to the point of death before he was ferried away by the soldiers to an unknown destination. So far, efforts by Kalu’s family to know his whereabout has proven abortive as the army has blatantly refused to declare if he is still alive or dead.
Moreover, when Elombahnews asked the family source if IPOB is aware of Kalu’s ordeal, the source said yes but they have refused to say anything concerning his situation. “Since Kalu was taken away by the army, we have not received words from IPOB. The entire family is just in a sober mood now. We do not know where to run to”, the source said.
Investigation by Elombahnews shows that Kalu’s adoption was among the factors that prompted Nnamdi Kanu during his emergency broadcast of yesterday to declare curfew in Anambra and Abia State. The measure according to sources close to the separatist movement was taken to stem the tide of secret adoption of Igbo youths by the Nigerian security agencies.
However, Kalu’s family is appealing to the powers that be to release their son as he has nothing to do with Eastern Security Network.
