Emulate late Odumakin’s patriotism, self-sacrifices, CLO Chieftain urges politicians, civil servants
Social critic and Human rights activist, Comrade Vincent Ezekwueme has pleaded with political leaders, civil servants and Nigerians in general to emulate in words and actions the patriotic, selfless and sacrificial life of late Afenifere Chieftain and human rights and good governance crusader, Comrade Yinka Odumakin.
Ezekwueme made the remarks in his goodwill message during the second anniversary of the demise of Yinka Odumakin.
“He was very articulate, steadfast, courageous and humanitarian,” Ezekwueme said.
He noted that Odumakin’s abhorrence and disdain for injustice, oppression and bad governance manifested during the annulled June 12 debacle won by Chief MKO Abiola.
According to Ezekwueme, Odumakin joined other patriots like Chief Gani Fawehini, Dr. Beko Ransom Kuti, Arthur Nwankwo, Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu, Dr. Joe Odumakin, Tai Solarin, among others fought doggedly and patriotically for de-annulment of June 12th election and an end to military rule.
“It is on record that, as Spokesman of Afenifere, he was very vibrant, steadfast, patriotic, and alive to his responsibilities.
“Although he died at a period his services are needed, the legacies he left behind should be a source of hope and consolation to his loved ones.
“I equally extol his wife and doyen of human rights activism, Dr. Joe Odumakin for living up to expectations, sustaining the ideas and ideologies of the great patriot and agent of positive change, Late Comrade Yinka Odumakin.
“He was a rare gift to humanity. May God give us more of such patriot , statesman, selfless servant leaders and for Nigerians to emulates his patriotism, love for the country, justice, truth, equity and egalitarian society,” he added. Read more.
