Edo guber: Obaseki’s anointed candidate wins PDP primary
Mr Asue Ighodalo, the anointed candidate of governor Godwin Obaseki, has won the Edo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship Primaries.
The Primary Election Committee headed by the governor of Zamfara state, Dauda Lawal, declared Asue a former chairman of Sterling Bank, as the winner of the primaries after polling 577 votes to defeat other aspirants.
Though, Mr Philip Shaibu, Edo State Deputy governor, had emerged winner in another gubernatorial primary held earlier on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the primary that produced Ighodalo was monitored by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials at the Samuel Ogbomudia Stadium lawn tennis court.
Two aspirants, Omosede Igbinedion and Ogbeide Ihama withdrew from the contest before voting by the delegates started.
