Drunk soldier celebrating birthday gun down Plateau villager

A drunk soldier identified as Gideon has allegedly killed one Mr Joseph Jelmang in Marish community of Bokko local government area of Plateau State while celebrating his birthday.

The chairman of Bokkos Cultural Development Council (BCDC), Barrister Farmasum Fuddang confirmed the unfortunate incident in a statement.

He said the incident occurred on April 22.

Mr Farmasum Fuddang who condemned the killing, alleged that the solder fired multiple shots while celebrating his birthday at a relaxation centre, which unfortunately killed Jelmang.

The statement reads, “We strongly condemned the perpetrators’ desperate attempt to conceal the crime by falsely labeling the innocent passerby and residents who tried to save his life by transporting him to the hospital as militants.

“We demand the swift and decisive action of the military authorities and the Attorney General in apprehending and prosecuting the perpetrator to the fullest extent of the law.”

BCDC also demanded the immediate release of all those arrested by soldiers in Marish on April 22 and previously.

Meanwhile, military authorities are yet to issue a statement in respect to the development.
