#BuhariDemocracyDayLies – by Reno Omokri

I have just watched President Buhari’s Democracy Day Speech and I am stunned at the level of lies contained in just one speech.

Buhari possibly just broke the Guinness World Record on most lied in a speech ‪#BuhariDemocracyDayLies‬

‪Buhari lied by claiming to increase foreign reserves. PMB met a reserve of $32 billion on May 29, 2015. In 3 years he has borrowed ₦11 trillion. This is more than PDP borrowed in 16 years combined. It is from this debt that he has ‘increased’ our reserve #BuhariDemocracyDayLies‬

‪Buhari lied by claiming ‬Integrated Personnel And Payment Information System (IPPIS) as an achievement. IPPIS was initiated, introduced and implemented by the Jonathan administration. Here is proof https://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/07/jonathan-sets-deadline-for-implementation-of-new-payroll-system/‪ #BuhariDemocracyDayLies‬

‪Buhari lied that he “inherited a weak economy”. He inherited the third fastest growing economy in the world, according to @CNNMoney. It was his failure to appoint a cabinet for 6 months that weakened the economy and led to recession ‬ ‪#BuhariDemocracyDayLies‬

‪Buhari lied when he said Nigerians are enjoying increased power supply. This is such an obvious lie. He has not built a single power station. The last power station built in Nigeria was built by Jonathan. I ask you, has your power improved? ‬ ‪#BuhariDemocracyDayLies‬

‪Buhari lied saying that Boko Haram‘s capacity has been ‘degraded’. This runs counter to the testimony of the #DapchiGirls who testified that Boko Haram now have planes and they land them within Nigeria ‬https://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2018/03/24/dapchi-schoolgirl-we-were-flown-in-planes-and-taken-over-rivers-in-boats/amp/ ‪#BuhariDemocracyDayLies‬

‪Buhari lied by saying he has improved the education sector. By his third year Jonathan had built 120 Almajiri schools and 12 universities. Giving out licenses to the private sector to build a polytechnic is not an achievement ‬ ‪#BuhariDemocracyDayLies‬

‪Buhari lied by claiming 7000 Megawatts power. The devil will have trouble beating that lie. Nigeria under Buhari is not even‬ regularly transmitting half that number. Perhaps he means IGP’s ‘TRANSMISSION’ and not electric power transmission ‪#BuhariDemocracyDayLies‬

‪Buhari lied by claiming the construction of the 2nd Niger Bridge as an achievement. No bridge has been constructed. No contract has been awarded. The ‬₦2 billion released was money earmarked by Jonathan not Buhari. Here is proof https://www.vanguardngr.com/2018/05/fg-hasnt-awarded-2nd-niger-bridge-contract-reps-cttee/ ‪#BuhariDemocracyDayLies‬

‪Buhari lied by claiming US FAA Category 1 status as an achievement. Nigeria attained US FAA Category 1 on October 23, 2010 under former President Jonathan. Here is the proof ‬https://www.vanguardngr.com/2010/09/faa-category-1-status-nigeria-on-threshold-of-aviation-growth-and-development/ ‪#BuhariDemocracyDayLies‬

Buhari lied by claiming the visa on arrival policy as his achievements. This policy was unveiled in 2013 by Olusegun Aganga, Jonathan’s minister of industry. Read about it here in this 2013 interview http://allafrica.com/stories/201309241471.html ‪#BuhariDemocracyDayLies‬

Buhari lied when he said he has reduced inflation. In truth, inflation increased by 50% from 9.8% when Buhari took over in May 2015, to 13.34%. The last time Nigeria enjoyed single digit inflation rate was under ex President Jonathan ‪#BuhariDemocracyDayLies‬

‪Buhari lied about the so called unprecedented FIRS tax revenue and customs receipt. When you factor in the devaluation of the Naira by the Buhari government. The revenues made is actually about half the revenues made in 2014 when Naira was ₦150 to $1 #BuhariDemocracyDayLies‬

‪Buhari said the ₦2.7trillion capital expenditure for 2016 and 2017 combined is a record. ₦2.7 trillion is worth $8 billion today. It is not up to the ₦1.6 trillion Jonathan allocated for capital expenditure in 2013 which was equivalent to $9.6 billion #BuhariDemocracyDayLies‬

‪Buhari lied when he said Nigeria is more secure under him. According to the Global Terrorism Index, Nigeria is now the THIRD most terrorised nation in the world. We were number 4 under Jonathan. We have moved 1 step backward #BuhariDemocracyDayLies‬

‪Buhari lied that he has reduced corruption in Nigeria. According to Transparency International, Nigeria is more corrupt under Buhari than it was at ANYTIME during the Jonathan administration. We have moved 12 steps backwards from 136 to 144 on TI’s CPI #BuhariDemocracyDayLies‬

‪Buhari lied about increased inflow of foreign exchange into Nigeria. Whereas Nigeria was the NUMBER ONE destination for FDI in Africa under Jonathan, under Buhari we are not even among the top 10 destinations in Africa. Here‘s proof http://africanbusinessmagazine.com/sectors/finance/nigeria-is-top-fdi-destination-in-africa/ #BuhariDemocracyDayLies‬

‪Buhari lied big time when he says he is fighting corruption. Transparency International yesterday revealed that un-budgeted security votes given to APC officials have suddenly increased to $670 million. They suspect that the money is to be used to fund Buhari’s re-election ‬https://www.news24.com/Africa/News/nigeria-told-to-end-security-slush-funds-20180528 ‪ #BuhariDemocracyDayLies‬

‪Buhari lied by saying he will bring criminals to justice. The facts contradict this assertion. Under Buhari, close to 1000 so called ‘repentant’ Boko Haram terrorists have been released. Herdsmen killing Nigerians have not been prosecuted. Instead they are defended #BuhariDemocracyDayLies‬

‪Buhari should not attempt to take any credit for the Not Too Young Bill. He is 75 and does not have a single youth in his cabinet. Not even one. His heart is not in the bill. He was not the promoter. He just wants to reap where he didn’t sow.‬

‪Finally, I urge President Muhammadu Buhari to remember that he is fasting and Ramadan fast is not only about abstinence from food, it is also about abstaining from lies. I congratulate him on his new Guinness World Record of most lies in a single speech #BuhariDemocracyDayLies

RESPONSE from mandateguard Initiative

A. On the issue of foreign reserves, the facts are clear and our foreign reserves is on the rise. This administration has borrowed for the following reasons :
1.The rescheduling and restructuring of bad loans taken by the same Jonathan administration that the hater-writer is struggling to praise.
2. Jonathan borrowed to pay salaries, PMB is borrowing to improve infrastructure. It is obvious as such facts have become notorious.

B. Jonathan struggled to start up IPPIS but due to his lack of political will could not implement because he was neck deep in corruption. However PMB has moved on with it and streamlned government operations with its implementation. So who should take credit for its success? Is it he that put it in the archives or he that has run with it. Now will you deny a government its success of implementing existing laws because it did not pass such laws when those who enacted the laws threw them away? Hate is your name. Open your eyes

C. Certainly PMB inherited a text book cooked economy. Ngozi used all her wizardry to deceive the Nigerian citizenry with a paper growing economy that was predicated on fraud and no known principles of economics. An economy that saw fraud money being used to purchase sovereign bonds thereby giving off the impression that there was investment. Unfortunately the Rules do not allow for disclosure of beneficial owners otherwise hell would have been let loose. Our economy is picking up in its true sense and not illusionary.
Mr hater, your hate knows no bounds.

D. Jonathan built power stations to steal money. Here your hate journeys again. Its so unfortunate that only you does not experience the increase in power supply. Only you have not seen on-going infrastructure developments in the power sector. Plants being built. Only you. Only you does not appreciate the power interventions in Lagos, Ariaria in Aba and Kano amongst others. Your hate is legendary.

E. Boko Haram has indeed been degraded. I’m sure you do not live in Maiduguri, Damaturu or Yola. Our brothers in those areas now appreciate what peace is all about. Even those in Abuja and Lagos happily visited fun centers during the Children’s Day and today’s Democracy day celebrations without any very severe security presence or fear of bomb blasts. Apart from the unforseen suicide bombings going on here and there which requires communities to help the security agencies in identifying the perpetrators, insurgents have lost the war.
You hate is indeed genetic

F. This writer is not aware of the upsurge in school children enrollment as a result of the School feeding initiative of the Buhari administration. This has also aided in the physical and mental well being of our children at that level. That level of education, which is basic is the bedrock of any education policy and PMB got it right there. Jonathan went about building schools without quality and standard. Building schools without the right manpower and capacity and educational infrastructure. It is criminal.
Hater, return your own portion of the loot otherwise you will surely regret it.

G. This government has indeed generated 7,000Megawats. It is there. Unfortunately you can’t change it because its effect abound.
Hate is not a virtue.

H. You keep talking about “ear marks” etc by Jonathan. For the first time in history, 2nd Niger bridge construction is being provided for in the budget by PMB. Jonathan never had plans to build anything. For the first time, due process that evidences transperancy and clear intentions to build the bridge were carried out through the conduct of preliminary tests and environmental impact assessment. For the first time displaced locals surrounding the construction sites were compensated. Jonathan had no plans to build anything.
Hater wake up, governance is not propaganda

I. FAA Status under Jonathan, a regime that procured all it had through corruption. Now we are dealing with issues the way they are.
Hater, no free cash any longer

J. The statistics from a now independent National Bureau of Statistics notes that inflation is scampering but you hater that hid all your loot in despicable places would wish for inflation to be our national anthem. Sorry

K The hater understanding of economics is so warped that he struggles to rubbish the leap in tax receipts by bench marking it with the devaluation of naira. If he understands the economics of devaluation which indeed strengthens a currency thereby placing its value appropriately, then he wouldn’t have let rum gush out of his mouth. Currently the true value of our currency is being felt vis a vis other economic indicators. Wailer go back to school

L. Please where did Jonathan spend money on capital projects. They only looted same. Buhari is redesigning the country’s infrastructural landscape.

M. Global Terrorism Index is who. That which you and your paymaster procure with your loot. Well PMB has won accolades from the world on his consistency in fighting terrorism in Nigeria despite the on-going carnage designed by the hater and his collaborators.

N. TI corruption index did indeed give an encouraging report and actually gave room for improvement. However it may not please you to note that this government has stemmed grand corruption which used to be the order of the day.
Hater too bad.

O. This government has not relented in bringing corrupt officials and criminals to the law. Justice is dispensed by an independent arm of government that is today struggling to free itself from the stranglehold of haters.

Buhari has shown consistency in deed and character. Governance is not about age but about what stuff a leader is made of. He has integrity. Please put forward your best and let us start talking
