Justice Akintayo Aluko of a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, yesterday, dismissed a suit challenging the Lagos State Government over ban of commercial motorcycles on state roads in some local councils and local council development areas (LCDAs).

The judge held that the plaintiff, a Lagos-based lawyer, Julius Ajibulu, who filed the suit on behalf of residents of Lagos State, failed to establish that the Lagos State government has no power to ban the operation of tricycles and motorcycles in the designated roads.

The Lagos State Government had ban activities of motorcycle operations in 10 Local Governments, LGs, and 15 Local Council Development Areas, LCDAs, of the state remain effective.

Commissioner for Transportation, Dr Frederic Oladeinde, in a statement stated that there has been peace and improvement in security in areas where the activities of Okada operations have been halted, restating that the security agencies are on the alert to continue to enforce the ban without any compromise.
