Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal security and Home Affairs, Mr. Samuel Aruwan has urged media organisations to promote peace journalism, in order to contribute to peaceful coexistence and security in the country.
Aruwan made the appeal on Tuesday at a monthly ‘Forum with Media on Peace Journalism’, organized by Interfaith Mediation Centre, Kaduna.
He appealed to journalists to understand that they have a responsibility to ensure peace and stability in the country.
Aruwan stressed the need for the media to provide more space for people who advance the course of peace and the diversity of the country.
He said this was necessary, so that the country will have very meaningful integration.
The commissioner noted that the media as critical stakeholders in nation building, should also hold government to account to ensure development, peace and stability.
He commended the Centre for serving as a hub of connecting journalists committed to peace and security of the country. (NAN)
