Beijing-based doctor Howard Bernstein claims the current crisis inundating Chinese hospitals is the worst he’s seen in three decades as ever-increasing numbers of cases pour into ERs following the recent cull of zero-Covid measures.
Bernstein reports that some patients arriving in the ER are stuck there for days, unable to move to hospital rooms due to lack of bed space, while another Beijing doctor estimates patient numbers have rocketed to five or six times usual levels.
UK-based data firm Airfinity estimates around 5,000 Chinese are dying from Covid daily, despite official data stating zero Covid deaths in the last six days.
