Champion Newspaper’s Deputy Editor Bisiriyu Olaoye is dead

The Deputy Editor of the Champion Newspaper, Bisiriyu Olaoye, has died at the age of 64.

Mr. Olaoye reportedly died on Wednesday, 12 February, 2025, three days after his 64th birthday.

He has been buried according to Islamic rites.

Olaoye, an easy-going journalist, was born on February 9, 1961. He is well loved by colleagues and others he came across in the course of his job.

His wife, Sukurat Olaoye, confirmed his demise in a statement. She said the Fidau (Muslim prayer) would come up at his Ota home today, Wednesday, February 19.

She did not disclose the circusmstances of his death, but a family source told Platforms Africa that the late journalist slumped in his home located few kilometers from The Bells University Ota and he did not recover.

The venue of the Fidau prayer has been listed as 21 Alhaji Busari Street, the Bells bus stop along Ota –Idi Iroko Expressway Ota, Ogun state.
