CAPS applaud Ize-Iyamu, seek APC board of trustees

Conference of APC State Publicity Secretaries (CAPS) congratulates Edo State Chapter of APC, the great party proudly made in Nigeria for the conduct of smooth and transparent primaries, producing a formidable candidate in the person of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.

We commend the National Executive Committee (NEC) of our party, who guided this process to fruition , despite sponsored distractions.

It is instructive that APC observed the COVID 19 Regulations in force in Edo State, where other parties, including those who made them with an incomplete House of Assembly failed.

We in CAPS have no doubt that victory is in sight in the September governorship polls and that Edo State now has a chance to have in operation a House of Assembly, whose nominal role will not be less than the number prescribed by the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria, as amended.

Gladly, APC was not blinded by partisan considerations in condemning this constitutional breach, arising from abuse of power by the outgoing governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki.

We reflect on obstacles we have surmounted by the strength of character and wisdom that abides withing our party men and women, with gratitude to God and hope for the future.

However, in order to capture the vision of our founding fathers regarding timely structural management of inevitable conflicts, we call for the activation and stabilization of the National Board of Trustees, already provided for in the 2014 Constitution of APC as an organ of the party.

We therefore respectfully invite the National Working Committee (NWC), of our great party to make this a topmost priority, realisable in no distant time.

We express absolute confidence in the ability of APC to build future successes on plugging of all observed loopholes in seven years of registration, through a holistic review of all outdated statutes.

APC surmounted many obstacles to be registered as a political party, under oppressive leadership and scaled many more to succeed in our congresses and all primaries, setting the tone of Nigeria’s new democracy.

CAPS, therefore, urge the opposition not to build their quest for public office-without alternative ideas-on their perceived flaws of others, but on the strength of their own ideas and conviction, that departs from the chicanery of yesteryears.

As we look forward to a sweet gubernatorial victory because Edo State desires and deserves fresh air from nouveau despotism that has eliminated the functions of the legislature, we urge a thorough scrutiny of Ize-Iyamu‘s potential Deputy Governorship candidate.
