Businesses will die over high cost of electricity tariff — Igbokwe
Chief Joe Igbokwe, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has decried the high cost of electricity tariff.
In an open letter to President Tinubu which he shared on his Facebook page, Igbokwe said if the current electricity tariff is not checked, it would kill businesses.
He recounted how he recently purchased N20,000 units and it finished the same day he purchased it.
Igbokwe said, “PBAT, PLEASE LOOK INTO THE NEW ELECTRICITY TARIFF IN NIGERIA. IT WILL KILL BUSINESSES IF THE GOVERNMENT DOES NOT ACT AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE. I HAVE A SMALL OFFICE IN SURULERE WITH ABOUT ABOUT 7 UNITS OF AC. WE USED TO BUY 305 UNITS FOR N20,0000. YESTERDAY WE BOUGHT N20,000 AND GOT 80 UNITS AND IT LASTED FOR JUST ONE DAY. THEY CALL IT BAND A GROUP. I PRAY THAT WE REVIEW THIS.”
Also, in another post, Igbokwe said, “There has been a significant improvement in power supply in my area in Lagos but something happened yesterday in Surulere. We bought N20,000 worth of units yesterday and it finished the same yesterday. What happened even at a time like this”
