Bulletproof cars seized from Magu as his office sealed

Operatives of the Nigerian Police, on Monday, seized two official bulletproof vehicles of suspended Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu.

According to a source with the police, one of the bulletproof vehicles was seized in Abuja while the second was confiscated in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

It was gathered that the vehicles were taken to the Force Headquarters but later moved to the commission’s headquarters.

Besides seizing the bulletproof cars, Magu’s office on the 10th floor of the new EFCC building located along Airport Road, Jabi, Wuse II, has also been sealed.

Some detectives were said to have stormed the commission’s head office and sealed the office.

Sources said that workers were barred from accessing the entire floor where the office was located.

Magu is being grilled by the panel at the Presidential Villa over alleged mismanagement of recovered funds and lack of transparency in the recovered assets.

He is also being accused of misappropriating N700 million earmarked for the training of EFCC staff.

In another development, ElombahNews had, earlier on Tuesday, reported that the federal government has begun a manhunt for the culprits behind the vandalisation at  the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) office in Abuja.

The NFIU new office was breached in what appeared to be a possible cover-up of the tracks of the suspended former EFCC Acting Chairman over the ongoing investigation.

It was reported that the perpetrators were led by a serving chief superintendent of police whose identity is yet to be revealed.

This medium also learnt that six persons were involved in the security breach which say sensitive equipments and materials destroyed.

A source at the EFCC office in Abuja informed our correspondent of the development.

The source said that that in all, seven computers containing sensitive financial information were taken away while others were damaged.

It was also reported that the federal government enlisted the services of the Department of State Security (DSS) in the manhunt.

Also enlisted was the Nigeria Police Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) located in Area 10, Abuja.
