BREAKING: S’Court upholds Abba Yusuf’s election

The Supreme Court appears to have doused the political tension in Kano State as it has affirmed the election of governor Abba Yusuf of New Nigeria Peoples party, NNPP, as the duly elected governor of the State.
In a landmark ruling, the apex court set aside the controversial judgements of Kano Governorship Election Petition Tribunal and that of the Court of Appeal, which declared APC candidate Nasiru Gawuna as the winner.
While delivering ruling on Friday, the chairman of the panel headed by Justice John Okoro, returned Mr Yusuf’s 165,616 votes, which the lower court had invalidated and deducted from the votes cast in his favour.
